What is peri-peri sauce? Peri-peri, also known as African Bird's Eye Chili or sometimes Piri-Piri  is a spicy hot pepper that belongs to the family of the tabasco pepper.   Where is the hot pepper grown? These peppers usually grow in Africa but are now commercially produced in several regions of both the countries Africa and Portugal. These hot peppers are utilized in spices, sauces, and even sometimes used in the pharmaceutical industry. The peppers only grow to be about a hairsbreadth long, but peri-peri chiles can store a stiff punch. They range from 50,000 to 175,000 on the Scoville scale (Scoville is U.S. chemist who, in 1912, developed a method to measure the heat level of a chile pepper) scale.
